2009-04-16 20:51:37 good time to check the fish out for missing scales, sores or anything out of the ordinary as they reawaken and treat immediately to prevent further spread |

2008-09-05 19:12:48 During the month of September until it's below 55 degrees, I feed my fish Romet B which is a food with antibiotics in it. This I believe helps the fish put on fat (I don't feed my fish during the season) and give them a boost the winter's challenges. I also feed them Romet B come spring start up while the pond is building its summers resources. |
now's a good time to give your fish a good once over Posted By: kmam1 |
2008-04-15 20:58:20 You'll want to check your fish over checking for signs of poor health so they can be treated before a major problem develops. |
Frozen Pond Posted By: kmam1 |
2008-01-11 20:28:01 Your fish will survive a frozen pond with just a small opening in the ice. This allows gases to escape and not build up under the ice and become toxic. Depending on the length and severity of your winter, the pond should be at least 18 to 24 inches deep (or have water enough for your fish below your frost line). A simple airstone will usually keep an opening in your pond. |
Frozen pond Posted By: Valsgalore |
2008-01-03 18:45:39 I was wondering if my pond is completely frozen over and there are fish in it, do they still have air to breathe? Do they hibernate like bears??? I like the website! Hope some one can help, I want to put fish in my pond in my back yard, but I'm not sure what all is involved. Thanks |
